    The Minister of Energy: Al-Jafurah supports the direction of rationalization through the use of gas to run electricity

    His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy, said that the local content program emphasizes maximizing economic benefit by providing the needs of the country from within, and this would enhance the economic and political security of the Kingdom through self-sufficiency.​

    During the main session of the Energy Pioneers Forum 2020 organized by the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Businessmen Council on Sunday evening, February 23, 2020, the Minister of Energy stated that the Ministry is determined to communicate with the private sector, whether they are businessmen or businessmen, in order to achieve the goal of maximizing local content, where the Ministry will provide a possible environment for large, medium, small and emerging companies to take advantage of the opportunities available in the energy sector that come from the needs of all government agencies, according to their requirements.     His Highness the Minister of Energy, during the session, attended by His Excellency Dr. Ghassan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Shibl, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Local Content and Governmental Procurement Authority, and moderated by the Chairman of the Asharqia Chamber, Abdul-Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khaldi, in the presence of the Chairman of the Youth Business Council of the Asharqia Chamber, Abdullah bin Faisal Al-Braikan, to The Ministry is currently working on a new energy strategy that contains a work program that has many goals, targets, activities, and programs​.

    Al-Shibl revealed that the new government competition system and procurement holds a basic pillar represented in the list of preference for local content and small and medium enterprises, and listed companies, stressing that the list includes mechanisms to prefer local content and a mandatory list that must be purchased from national manufacturers and a price preference for small and medium enterprises by 10 percent as well His Excellency said we established the Local Content Coordination Council, which includes major national companies and relevant government agencies with the aim of unifying standards and mechanisms for measuring local content. A balance was achieved in the exploitation of the Kingdom's resources from other natural resources such as renewable and clean energy ... which made this sector replete and promising various investment opportunities.​

    For his part, head of the Business Council of the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce Abdullah bin Faisal Al-Buraikan indicated that the Kingdom is abundant with a huge and tremendous amount of traditional and renewable energy resources, which allowed it to have a pivotal position in the global energy markets.
